Architect
My first visit to sub-Saharan Africa was in 2007 to Mali Dogon village from Ireland where I worked as an intern after I graduated from Master, Tokyo university of the Arts in Japan. My flight arrived at Bamako airport at midnight and when I went out from a small airplane nervously, I was overwhelmed with clinging muggy wind and unfamiliar smell. After I established my office TERRAIN architects with Ikko Kobayashi who lived in Dogon then, I have been involved in architecture projects in Africa, mainly in Uganda. I also explore architecture at Tokyo University of the Arts teaching as associate professor and organizing Africa-related projects with students.
